What makes you proud of being a woman but also a Latina?

Being a woman is everything to me. I love that we get the privilege and experience to create life. Being a mother of two I can say that growing human beings is a super power and women should be proud of that. Latinas are strong and independent women because of the way we were brought up. Family is everything in our culture and we all look after one another no matter what. Family, food and music is always surrounding you. Being a Latina is such a privilege and very proud of being able to be part of this amazing culture.
Is there someone you look up to?
My mother has always been there for me and has taught me to be an amazing mother, cook, and wife. It is because of her I strive to be the mother I am today. I want my girls to have the same childhood that I had growing up and hope to one day become a role model to them.
Do you feel Latino culture has had a big impact on who you are?
Latino culture has definitely had a huge impact on who I am today. Growing up in a border town has for sure molded me into a proud Latina and growing up in a Spanish speaking home has as well. Everything I am is because of our culture. The food we eat the way we talk and act I think is all because of our Latin roots. We have the most amazing food and music and other cultures enjoy it because we are always happy.
Do you have any current projects you are working on and accomplishments that you would like to talk about?
At the time I do not have any projects lined up. My whole time and life is dedicated to my two daughters and husband. I do hope to one day be able to help children in Mexico receive the education, food, clothing, and clean water that they deserve.
Do you have any words of advice and encouragement to future generations of all women?
My advice is to embrace your culture no matter where you or your family are from. I know many women who are ashamed of who they are or where they came from and it should not be that way. Always be proud of who you are and always represent who you are proudly.
