What makes you proud of being a woman but also a Latina?

I’m proud to be a woman because I know that I am capable of doing great things. Many underestimate the worth and value of being a woman. We are compassionate, caring, wise and beautiful creatures. We strive for greatness. We give life and want more from life. We are multi-taskers. As a Latina, this strive and drive that is inside of us is amplified 100 times. We love hard, we are always looking for what is best for us, our friends and family. We want more than what is expected from being a woman and especially a Latina woman.

Is there someone you look up to?

Well, I have a couple of people I look up to. I have my parents who have always wanted what’s best for my siblings and myself. They came to the United States from El Salvador to get away from the chaos of the civil war. They wanted more for not only my sister at the time, but for their future children. My parents are hard working people. They always wanted the best for us. They always made ends meet for the family even through the toughest time. Hearing the stories of all the struggles they had that go through to get where they are at makes me appreciate everything I have and everything I am. Seeing my parents always working so hard gives me hope to one day return everything they did for my family. I am thankful for them for showing me never to give up my hopes and dreams. They constantly support everything I do and for that I thank them. They will always be an inspiration to continue on my goals and dreams.

Do you feel Latino culture has had a big impact on who you are?

Yes, I do. All my believes have been modeled and greatly to what inspires me. The values that my parents gave me drive me to find the greatness in me. I know that trying to persevere my culture is important and representing it is a great deal of who I am. Preserving my values through my creativeness and work is something I strive to express. I know that I want to be able to show others that my culture is more than what they think it is.

Do you have any current projects you are working on and accomplishments that you would like to talk about?

Currently, I do not have any current projects that I am working on. I know that I want to do something with photography but that is still yet to be planned on. I am very inspired by my surroundings and I know one day it will come. I know one day I want to have a photography show but my ideas keep changing.

Do you have any words of advice and encouragement to future generations of all women?

Just be you and to never stop dreaming big. Don’t let anyone or anything stop you from being you and dreaming. I know nowadays people don’t like to be different but being different is the most inspiring, liberation thing one can do for themselves. You will learn so much from it. You will be inspired, create and become a person who will inspire others. Don’t stop dreaming. Our culture has been always to dream big it’s embedded in us to dream big. We are dreamers and always strive for greatness. I hope this inspires future generations to come.
